The junior class took a field to the Copake Iron Works National Historic District, a largely intact 19th century industrial complex located at Copake Falls in Columbia County that boasts a rare blast furnace, blowing engine house, machine shop and other attractions. The trip is a yearly adventure organized by the social studies department for students taking US History and Government. For the first half of the day, the students toured the Copake Iron Works, where they learned about all the phases of iron production in our region. The second half of the day focused on wellness, during which the group enjoyed a two-mile hike out to nearby Bash Bish Falls in MA.
