Welcome Chatham CSD Family!
We are excited for the opportunity to work with you as you homeschool your child(ren)! The Chatham Central School District is committed to growth for all students and recognizes the rights and responsibilities of parents in the education of their children. Homeschooling is a viable educational choice, subject to laws and regulations of New York State.
Chatham is committed to the homeschool process and we are here to help provide direction and answer your questions as you navigate the homeschooling process while serving as your child’s primary educator. It is our privilege to work with you and your child(ren) and we look forward to supporting your family.
The following resources and documents are provided to help you with the homeschool process, necessary documentation and timelines, and templates for each step along the way. There is also a FAQ section and links to NYS homeschool guidance that you will find helpful. Chatham residents who wish to homeschool must submit a letter of intent to homeschool, an Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP), annual evaluations and quarterly reports. The District also asks that families fill out a Homeschool Registration Form, also available below.
All forms should be submitted to:
Mike Stead, CMS Assistant Principal
Homeschool Coordinator
Chatham Central Schools
50 Woodbridge Avenue

Homeschooling parents or students may request a determination of substantial equivalency between the homeschool and public high school program for the purpose of documenting substantial equivalency in the college application process. View Chatham’s procedures in response to requests for substantial equivalency determination.
