Dear Chatham CSD Families,
I hope this communication finds you well. Throughout the pandemic, we have communicated to our families when someone in our District has tested positive for COVID-19. This school year, we are making a change to how we will provide you with this information in an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19 related emails you receive from us. Moving forward, we will no longer be sending out communications reporting positive cases. Instead, we have created a page on our website that will be updated whenever a positive case is reported. It can be found on our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response & Resources page under the link titled Positive Cases Reported.
Please be assured that any individual who is identified as a close contact and required to quarantine will be contacted directly by a representative of our school district or the Columbia County Department of Health, as has been the practice to date.
With the Delta variant causing transmission rates to remain high going into this school year, we ask that you please continue your efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community and help keep the virus out of our schools. We urge everyone, even those who are vaccinated, to remain diligent and practice layered safety measures such as wearing masks, physical distancing, washing your hands often, avoiding gatherings and unnecessary travel, and staying home if you or your child becomes ill or are awaiting test results. If you or someone in your household exhibits COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive for the virus, please stay home and notify your child’s school as soon as possible. Your continued support will help us keep our schools safe and open for learning.
Sincerely,
Sal DeAngelo Superintendent
