How high can this bass singer go?!? CHS senior Aidan Brennan has been selected for the 2025 All-Eastern Honors Mixed Chorus, an honorary performance opportunity reserved for only the best student musicians from this part of the country! Aidan will travel to Hartford, CT where from April 24-27 he will rehearse under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong, the director of the St. Olaf University Choir, and perform in concert April 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the acclaimed Bushnell Performing Arts Center.
The bi-annual All-Eastern Honors Ensembles event is put on by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Eastern Division and involves 600 students from 10 states who scored the highest in their state for their respective All-State festivals. Aidan was selected based on the perfect score he received for his solo performance at the adjudicated 2024 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo & Small Ensemble Festival, which also earned him a trip to All-State this past December.
Aidan, who has been active in our chorus program since he was a fourth grader, is a fixture in our school plays and musicals, including this year’s production of Grease, and has been repeatedly picked for NYSSMA’s All-County and Area All-State regional festivals. He has performed professionally in local theatre and also sings in The McDozen, Chatham High School’s tenor and bass acapella group.
To the best of our knowledge, the last time a student from Chatham was invited to All-Eastern was over thirty years ago. Please join us in congratulating Aidan on this important accomplishment!
