Congratulations to CHS senior Aidan Brennan, who participated in this year's American Legion Oratorical Contest and came out the winner of a scholarship! When a representative from the local American Legion approached our guidance department looking for a student who would be interested in the contest, Aidan's was one of the first names that came to mind.
“I love going up on stage and talking about anything so it was a fun challenge for me,” Aidan said.
Aidan had to give an
8-10 minute prepared speech as well as shorter, unprepared speech on different aspects of the U.S. Constitution. A talented musician and thespian in school and community productions, he put his skills into action as he won the competition at the Columbia County level. From there, he went on to compete at the District level, where he earned second place overall and qualified for the Zone level competition, which encompasses the North Country south to Ulster County. Unfortunately he was unable to attend that competition due to a musical commitment on the same day. Chatham, where character counts!
