Second grade celebrated the end of their "Fairy Tales and Tall Tales" unit with a theme party! Students dressed up as their favorite fairy tale or tall tale characters, including princesses, Paul Bunyan & Babe the Ox, and lumberjacks of all kinds! They also enjoyed a special Johnny Appleseed-theme treat. Over the first few weeks of school, the students heard legendary stories like Pecos Bill, along with humorous stories like Emperor's New Clothes. They discussed plot lines and text elements, compared characters, and identified exaggerations. Stay tuned for more end-of-unit celebrations from the second grade team!
