Our District congratulates Chatham Panthers varsity baseball head coach Scott Stelz for being named a 2024 American Baseball Coaches Association/ATEC High School Division III Regional Coach of the Year! Unless you have been living under a rock with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears, you probably know Coach Steltz has led the Panthers to three straight NYS Class C Titles and an array of conference, sectional, and regional titles too numerous to list here. Perhaps most importantly, Coach Steltz strives to develop a strong sense of sportsmanship and good character in our players along with winning teamwork and skills.
“I am honored to receive this prestigious award from the best coaching association in the country,” Coach Steltz remarked. “I’m fortunate to have a family, coaching staff, and team that helped make this possible. The award reflects all the dedication of those I mentioned above.”
The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. ATEC Sports manufactures industry-leading training equipment and machines for elite baseball and softball programs.
The ABCA/ATEC Regional Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All-America & Coach of the Year Committees in all nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and high school.
This isn’t Coach Steltz’s first time on the ABCA/ATEC radar; in 2023 they honored him with their High School Div. III National Coach of the Year award.
Let's hear it for Coach Steltz on this well deserved honor and, of course, “Go Panthers!”
