young chicken surrounded by students

Over the last few weeks, Mrs. Van Wie and Mrs. Winter's second-grade class incubated and hatched a chicken! Trowbridge Farms in Ghent lent the classroom two incubators and provided 14 eggs. Out of the 14 eggs, there was only one that hatched, but it's a strong little survivor. The students shared names and then the class picked one at random, "Yolk" was the winner! Yolk is very loved by the classroom. It has been a really fun learning experience for both teachers and students! On June 12, Yolk returned to Trowbridge Farms to be with other chickens. The class will get to see Yolk living the barn life during a field trip to the farm!
