Project Trio was at CCSD March 24 to put on some great performances for our students at MED, CMS, and CHS.
Part of Music in Our Schools Month in Chatham, our music department invited the trio to share their considerable talent and love for music making with our students. Project Trio is a high-energy chamber music ensemble composed of three virtuosic composer/performers from Brooklyn - double bassist Peter Seymour, beatboxing flutist Greg Pattillo, and saxophonist Daniel Berkey. During their morning performances for our students, the trio introduced the students to their instruments and played selections from several genres, ranging from classical and jazz to show tunes and video game theme songs. As a beatboxing flutist, Pattillo lays down a drum beat with his mouth while playing his instrument at the same time! He gave the students a crash course on beatboxing and then had them all lay down the beat while the trio played from them!
Project Trio also performed at CMS and CHS this afternoon, and after school select music students joined them for a masterclass on performing.
As the culmination of their visit, Project Trio and select CCSD students performed a FREE CONCERT for the public in the CHS auditorium!
