Introduction: The Capstone Program is a requirement of Chatham Central School District. The goal of this program is for students to demonstrate the skills acquired during their time here. The Capstone Program is a learning experience which aligns with the CCSD Mission Statement, and is comprised of four components: the Curriculum Vitae, The Mock Interview Event, The Capstone Presentation, and the Awards/Celebration Night. As self-directed learners, students will be expected to complete the research and activities for the Capstone Program both inside and outside of class time with faculty and staff available to assist as necessary.
Overview:
The Curriculum Vitae (CV binder), is a formal compilation of a resume, writing sample, letter of recommendation, transcript, references, as well as other evidence of achievement and/or community service.
The Mock Interview Event is a chance for all seniors to meet with a member of the community in a field of interest to have the real-life experience of participating in the interview process.
The Capstone Presentation is a 15-20 minute oral presentation based on a student-selected project delivered to a panel of staff evaluators. The student must demonstrate his/her ability to think analytically, logically, and creatively as well as integrate experiences and knowledge to form reasoned judgments during the presentation.
Awards/Celebration Night is a community celebration of education; it is a “thank you” to the taxpayers, parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, teachers, administrators, Board of Education members, and other staff. Each senior displays his/her experiences and accomplishments from his/her academic and non-academic lives. Awards/Celebration Night also includes the presentation of scholarships and graduation awards.
