Mrs. McShane

The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) has selected Chatham Central School District music teacher Samantha McShane for a second three-year term as our area’s representative to the NYSSMA Executive Council. She was elected by her peers to represent Zone 10, which encompasses Columbia, Dutchess and Putnam counties.

Mrs. McShane is a veteran vocal and general music teacher here in Chatham, who, in addition to being our music department’s co teacher leader, serves as president of the Columbia County Music Educators’ Association, and has conducted honors ensembles at festivals in Columbia, Greene, and Montgomery counties.

"Our Zone Representatives provide an invaluable line of communication between their areas of New York State and the Executive Council of NYSSMA. The leadership skills that Samantha McShane has are outstanding and we are proud to have her on our team," said Edmund Chiarello, NYSSMA president.

Mrs. McShane’s previous involvement with NYSSMA includes work on NYSSMA’s Best Practices in Music Education and Electronic Manual committees, and presenting several professional development sessions to music educators at its all state/winter conference in Rochester and summer conference in Albany.

NYSSMA is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education. Its mission is to advance music education across New York State for its membership and students in member school programs.
