CMS students enjoyed a day of bully prevention and inclusivity activities on October 22. In the morning, guest speaker Erica G. shared with every grade her moving story about being bullied in high school to the point of depression, until she sought help and got support. As an older teen, she became an active anti-bullying advocate, working with legislatures and the Dignity For All Students (DASA) law. Students were able to discuss and ask questions as part of her talk.
For grades six and seven, there was " Mix It Up At Lunch” where students teamed up with someone they usually don’t socialize with to build towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows. The goal of the competition was to collaborate, talk, and laugh with someone they didn't know that well, and build the tallest tower, of course! The teams with the tallest towers won gift cards for Stewart's ice cream. In eighth grade, the student viewed the now classic film "Remember the Titans," about a football team that overcomes racial divides to win lasting friendships and the state championship.
