Chatham Middle School's bully prevention month kicked off October 5 with social-emotional learning circles in sixth grade. Students learned about the impact if bullying, the different types of bullying, and how to intervene and prevent it. The students practiced being upstanders rather than bystanders through role playing exercises, and learned many bullying situations can be curtailed by not giving the bully an audience, showing compassion for others, and helping students who feel left out. This kicks off a series of anti-bullying events at CMS this month, culminating is a school-wide spirit week.
