CHS students in Mrs. Decker’s Living Environment classes completed a lab in which they modeled DNA. They used mini marshmallows to represent the nitrogenous bases, which were labeled with A (adenine), T (thymine), C (cytosine) or G (guanine) to portray unique genetic codes for each lab pair. They illustrated the "backbone" of the DNA structure using Twizzlers. The backbone of DNA is made of deoxyribose sugars and nitrogenous bases. Overall, the lab was  a hit! Students had fun creating their very own DNA and learned about an essential component of life at the same time.
