Student giving presentation before panel of faculty members

Chatham High School is home to a unique set of graduation requirements known as the Senior Capstone Program, designed to prepare our students for success after graduation and give them a sense of progression into adulthood and personal ownership of their education. One major component of this important academic tradition is the Senior Capstone Project, an in-depth research and presentation project each senior completes as part of their English 12 class. Seniors must develop a thesis of their choosing and create and present their argument supporting it to a panel of faculty members. The Class of 2022 (with the exception of AP students, who will give theirs this spring) gave their presentations the afternoon of February 7. With the scheduled early dismissal for all other students that day, the entire CCSD faculty descended on the High School to participate and serve as project evaluators. During their presentations, the students demonstrated their ability to conduct research, think analytically and creatively, articulate their ideas, and integrate data, experiences, knowledge, and multiple sources of media into their arguments. Congratulations to our seniors on completing this major milestone in their academic careers!
