The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) has selected Chatham Central School District music teacher Samantha McShane as area representative to its Executive Council. She was elected by her peers and will liaise between NYSSMA and colleagues in Columbia, Dutchess and Putnam counties.
Mrs. McShane is a veteran vocal and general music teacher here in Chatham, who, in addition to her teaching duties, has served as yearbook advisor and in numerous roles for our drama program and the Fine Arts Booster Club.
She is currently president of the Columbia County Music Educators’ Association. As a NYSSMA member, Mrs. McShane participates in the Best Practices in Music Education and Music Technology committees, has hosted multiple NYSSMA adjudication festivals, chaired Area All-state ensembles, and is a NYSSMA-trained adjudicator for solo and ensemble festivals.
NYSSMA is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education. NYSSMA’s mission is to advance music education across New York State for its membership and students in member school programs.
