August 23, 2021

Greetings Parents and Students:

I hope that you are enjoying your summer vacation and are able to enjoy the remainder of it. After what we have been through the past year and a half, we are looking forward to having a successful 2021-2022 school year. We have spent the summer preparing for the upcoming school year and we eagerly await your arrival on Thursday, September 9th.

Along with welcoming the class of 2025 to the High School, we will also be welcoming a number of new faculty.

- Elizabeth Pegarella is taking over for Mr. Flanagan. She will be teaching some math courses and our computer science program.

- Tom Gazda has joined the science team. He comes to us with a wealth of experience and will be a great addition to our science department.

- As many of you know, Mr. Artist has moved over to the Middle School building and will be greatly missed. However, Emily Desmarais is joining the English department after spending time last year teaching at Emma Willard.

- Christina Scott joins us from the MED as our new art teacher, taking over for Mrs. Tomaso who retired at the end of last year.

- Elias Assimakopoulos will be taking over as our Band Director for Mr. Bintz. Elias is extremely talented; he has a ton of knowledge and comes from a diverse musical background.

Student schedules will be released to the Parent Portal on Monday, August 30th. Many of you already have Parent Portal accounts and you will be able to access the Portal just as you have in the past. Families that need to create an account please refer to the Chatham Central School Website for directions on how to access the portal.

On Tuesday, August 31st and Wednesday, September 1st, freshman, new students and sophomores who were fully-remote last year will have the opportunity to come into the building to walk their schedules and locate their classrooms. Masks must be worn at all times while in the building.

As we move into the new school year, please remember that there is a lot more to Chatham High School than academics. Whether you are planning to attend college, enter the workforce, join the armed forces, or choose a completely different path, it is very important that you become involved in school leadership activities, the arts, clubs and athletics. Early in the year we will provide you with information on the various clubs and organizations that we offer. If you would like to start your own club, there are opportunities to do so.

We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,
Justin Forrest
