student presenting to panel of teachers

Congratulations to our seniors on completing a major milestone in their academic careers! Chatham High School is home to a unique set of graduation requirements known as the Senior Capstone Program, designed to prepare our students for success after graduation and give them a sense of progression into adulthood and personal ownership of their education. May 17 was the culmination of one of its major components, the Senior Capstone Project, which is an in-depth research and presentation project each senior completes as part of their English 12 class. Seniors must develop a thesis of their choosing and create and present an argument supporting it to a panel of faculty members. With the scheduled early dismissal for all other students on May 17, the entire CCSD faculty descended on the High School to serve as project evaluators. During their presentations, the students demonstrated their ability to conduct research, think analytically and creatively, articulate their ideas, and integrate data, experiences, knowledge, and multiple sources of media into their arguments.
