For all you math enthusiasts out there, today was Pi (π) Day! In CHS geometry classes, students took a break from their regular lessons to celebrate with a special session dedicated to Pi. Pi is used to represent a constant - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter - which equates to approximately 3.14159 (hence March 14, or 3/14). Of course, no proper Pi day celebration would be complete without a slice of pie! Students brought in their favorite pies to class to share while Mrs. Chittenden led them through a history of Pi and some Pi-related math problems. An irrational and transcendental number, Pi is an interesting challenge to calculate because it continues infinitely beyond its decimal point without any pattern or repetition. It’s also great baked into a flaky crust with cherry filling and whipped-cream topping!
