The topic of mental health has never been more important, and this week, our District hosted a number of mental health awareness events that reached students, faculty, and parents.
On Wednesday, the JCK Foundation led a district-wide faculty meeting in the High School auditorium. JCK is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of improving mental wellness and resilience in youth and their families.
On Thursday, JCK’s John, Kevin, and Ellen returned to Chatham High School to discuss and explore topics around adolescence and anxiety, depression, and stress management with students. In the morning, they led presentations for all students in the auditorium, and throughout the day, held breakout circles with smaller groups of students.
Also on Thursday, Emily Haigh from the Columbia County Department of Health led a Healthy Mind & Body program for all CHS students in the gym. She talked about how the mind-body connection works and shared ways for students to improve their physical health, mental & emotional wellbeing, and spiritual health, among other things.
That evening the JCK Foundation hosted a related session for CHS and CMS parents in the Middle School auditorium. You can watch a recording of the parent presentation here...
Then on Friday John, Kevin, and Ellen were back at CMS to lead a school wide assembly and later small-group breakout sessions for all students at the middle school!
