The Chatham Central School District is committed to growth for all students.
The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 504, prohibits any federally subsidized program from discriminating against a person with a “handicapping condition”.
The act defines “handicapping condition” as a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity, including: walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, working, or care for self.
The Chatham Central School District has specific responsibilities to ensure that persons who qualify under Section 504 are afforded access to programs and program benefits equivalent to a non-disabled peer.
The Chatham Central School District recognizes our responsibility to avoid discrimination in policies and practices. No discrimination against any person will be knowingly permitted.
Please contact Brian Simon at 392-1535 for information on Section 504 services or to make a complaint about disability discrimination.
