Miss Engel’s Language Concepts 1-3 class took a mini-field trip down to Chatham High School on November 17. The students had been discussing ways to try new things, step out of their comfort zones, and accept changes in their routines. In addition to moving their desks and carpet spots around within the classroom, they decided to try a new sport! Conveniently, the high school PE students were wrapping up their ping-pong unit and were happy to invite the younger students over. The class learned how to serve the ball, start a volley back and forth, and keep the ball in control. Even though they agreed it was harder than it looks, the students had tons of fun and were glad they tried something new! Thank you to the CHS PE department for opening up the gym and Mr. Sitzer for teaching the students the rules of ping-pong!
