Graziano, Kelly Receive Comptroller's Student Achievement Award

Ryan Graziano and Hannah Kelly with awardsEighth graders Ryan Graziano and Hannah Kelly are Chatham Middle School’s 2017 recipients of the New York State Comptroller's Student Achievement Award. The award is issued from the Office of the State Comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli to honor outstanding students who demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to public service.

Ryan and Hannah were chosen for this honor by CMS faculty because of their high level of academic achievement and for their dedication to school and community services. Both are regulars on the high honor roll. Both are National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) trained students who play active roles in addressing prejudice, stereotyping, and bullying at their school by leading esteem-building workshops for their peers. They are also very active in their school’s Service Club and National Junior Honor Society, through which they regularly undertake community service projects throughout our area. Ryan is his school's current NJHS president. Hannah and Ryan are Key Communicators at the middle school, where they help strengthen communication links between school staff and the student body. On top of all this, Hannah finds time to be a three-season athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and softball, while Ryan plays basketball and baseball for Chatham. The two volunteer outside of school as well; Ryan volunteered at a local food pantry over the summer and Hannah volunteers at Sean’s Run.

CMS is proud to congratulate these two outstanding individuals on their positive commitment to their school, to their community, and to themselves!
